Harlen Earl Mitchell, age 85, of Toledo, Ohio died June 12, 2015 at the Carolinas Medical Center, Pineville, NC after several months of declining health.
Harlen was born in Oblong, IL on December 26, 1929 to Henry Mitchell and Margaret (Price) Mitchell. He graduated from Oblong Township High School, attended Eastern Illinois University, then graduated with an electrical engineering degree from University of Illinois. Harlan later joined the U. S. Navy and was a commissioned officer on December 15, 1951. He was an electrical engineer and worked for Owens-Corning Fiberglass in Newark, Ohio and eventually moved to the corporate headquarters in Toledo, Ohio.
He married Wilma Louise (Schlosser) Mitchell who died in 2002.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Ramona Mitchell of Charlotte, NC; a daughter and son-in-law, Julie Ann and Lee Martinez, Carrollton, TX; five grandchildren, along with nieces and nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and a brother, James Kenneth Mitchell.
